Happy Birthday Ike Turner

Izear Luster Turner (Ike Turner to the world) was born on November 05, 1931 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.  Although now mostly known as a tabloid caricature of a very bad man, Turner was an important figure in the development of early rhythm & blues.

He was not only a pianist, guitarist, and vocalist, he was a bandleader, songwriter, arranger, producer, talent scout, label owner, studio owner and booking agent.

To say that he was “self-made” man is an understatement.
